I write and design, and make things, mostly essays about words and ideas, poems and notes, and unusual shelves and other furniture. I have a column in a local paper called “The Montpelier Bridge” that is called “In a Word” which is what inspired me to start the weblog. I also do more traditional carpentry and cabinetry, play clawhammer banjo a bit and sing, and write other things. Thanks for visiting. Feel free to contact and comment.
Everything on the site is written, drawn, designed, made, and/or photographed by me and is copyright protected.

I also have a blog devoted solely to my designs:

everything is a shelf
